Iran supernatural doc to possess Serbia

The 28th Int’l Festival of Ethnological Film in Serbia is to screen Iranian doc ‘The Wind’.

The 28th edition of the International Festival of Ethnological Film in Serbia has scheduled to screen Iranian documentary ‘The Wind’.

Made by Hamid Jafari, the documentary that deals with spirit possession beliefs in southern Iran is accepted at the competition program of the Serbian event.

‘The Wind’ documents ‘Zar’ (harmful wind) rituals in southern coastal regions of Iran.

Some locals in south of the country believe in existence of winds that can be either vicious or peaceful; while ‘Zar’ is known as vicious and the cause of diseases in the victim.

The International Festival of Ethnological Film in Belgrade offers an insight to a wide range of ethnographic film themes and presents the work of filmmakers who explore both the traditional and modern lifestyles of human communities.

The 28th International Festival of Ethnological Film is slated for October 7-10, 2019 at Ethnographic Museum in Belgrade, Serbia.
